Kindness Is Enough

Hi there and welcome.
I'm so happy you popped in!
I went off with a bunch of friends yesterday and got to play for
many, many hours yeterday and met some new friends.
Most were scrappers and card makers so I may have scared a few of them
with my mixed media creations but it's all good, because I had a fun!
Here's a girl I finished up.
I think she's kind of cute.
A cross between Christy's She Art Girls and Kelly Rae Roberts style.
Love them both dearly and I have so enjoyed their inspiration!

Punkin' Head

Hi there and thanks for popping in for a visit!

So last night I did something I so need to do way more often.  A friend came over for a artsy playdate with me.  We hung out in the studio, ate chocolate, listened to oldies,  had a few cocktails, got paint on our hands and giggled!

She brought over this cute little halloweeny resin statue.  I should have taken a picture of the little guy because he was cUte!  This is also inspired by Pumpkins & Cider.  One of the many course I'm taking at the moment.  We sketched our model out and started playing!
SEVEN hours later and this was the result:

What can I say...time flies when you're having fun.  And we did stop for dinner on the deck.  On my Punkin' Head's dress, I cut out letters from an old book.  It reads "Time for Trick-or-Treat".

Here are a couple close ups.  I do so love her face and her shoes.

Hope she brought a little smile to your face!

Friday

Happy Hearts

Hello to you and Happy Friday!  I've got a few things today to share.

First is a sweet little heart I made for a friend......shhhhh.....she doesn't know and won't know who it's from.  I'm just going to send it to her to make her smile and bring her a little happiness.

These watercolor hearts were inspired by Alisa Burke.  These were part of the 12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas class I recently took.  LOVED that class.  Wait till you see what I create this weekend with book pages!

Completely spur of the moment coloring on a random piece of canvas today.  She's kind of cute.  I've been cutting words out of a book and now I'm finally putting them to use.  Sure it's easy enough to type something up to use but when you have to come up with your very own quotes....that's magical!

This canvas heart was inspired by Christy Tomlinson while I took her SheArt2 class.  Christy is simply amazing and so down to earth and talented.   This project was a bit of a challenge for me but I pushed through and I kind of like the end result.

Okay, that is all for now.  Thank you so much for taking a peak today and I hope to have inspired your creative soul just a bit.  Enjoy your weekend!

Sunday

Happy Sunday!

Over the last week or so I have been working on making a fabric journal for myself using some of the vintage linens I've purchased recently. Until I actually create on a page I'm not certain I am in love with the journal but I think it'll work.

It's kind of got that tattered unfinished look that I love.  I'll be sure to post my first entry in the next couple days.  I have many thoughts brewing in my lil' o brain.

Today I read these words: "art is about pushing the boundaries and making a statement."  I found it off Grove's website.  Not sure if it's Grove's or Donna's Statement but I really love it and it makes me feel happy to read it.

My SheArt2 class is in it's second week with 1 week to go.  Gosh, I have been trying so hard to work on my girl's faces but they just don't quite have the look I'm going for.  Today, I did play with some plaster and made the girl's hair 3-D and also added some glitter.  She's cute but I still would rather no face.  The hair and glitter rock...I just wish you could see it better.  I'm hoping soon I'll actually have a face for you.

Hope you had a great weekend, enjoyed the weather and found some creative juices along the way.  Enjoy your week!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO TO YOU!

So I really have not been lost at all.  Just taking time out for a bit while I did a little self discovery.  Thanks for visiting again and not forgetting about me!  I don't want to bore you with a giant story of my life the past couple months so I'll just give you some of the highlights.

After my Grandpa passed away, it was time to really focus on my life, my Nana and enjoy time with all the people I adore.  So while I stepped away from my blog, I have been oh so very busy!

Always in my Heart
I signed up for another online class.  It was Soul Restoration 2 with Melody Ross and a whole huge group of amazing, inspiring Brave Girls!  WOW.  I am still in the process of creating my Life Book but let me tell you, the questions I had to answer about life and my beliefs, thoughts, goals, ideas and my spirit were eye opening.  I would recommend this class to anyone.  My Life Book is not complete but I work on it bit by bit every day with paint, ink, paper, junk and words.  Lots and lots and lots of words.  MY words, MY thoughts, MY very own ME!

I also took the time to enjoy a trip I took with my 87 year old Nana.  We packed up some clothes, a picnic basket, my GPS and away we went.  We started off heading south, then a bit west, then more and more south.  Every night we stayed in a different hotel, in a different state and it was totally amazing.  The best part of the entire trip was not the beautiful scenery, antique malls, thrift shops, trying on hats everywhere we went, eating apple pie at one of my grandparents old haunts or even Donna Downey's studio.  It was the moments right before falling asleep.  You know those moments like on the Waltons with everyone in the family saying goodnight?  Well, this was more, so much more.  Me and Nana in the darkness of the night, would talk....just talk.  Just me and her.  About nothing and about everything.  For 2 magical weeks I learned so much about life though my Nana's heart, her mind and her soul.  I know for a fact am THE luckiest girl alive and I will forever cherish those memories!
My beautiful Nana
Now, I'm back at home.  Busy, like all of you getting ready for Thanksgiving.  I'm working on some items for my trunk show and of course, my continued daily work on my Life Book.  I also signed up for a couple classes with Christy Tomlinson.  I'm currently taking her She Art 2 class which I just love.  Her 12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas class will be coming up soon.  TWELVE artists that I look up to are teaching for 5 days.  And it's not pricey at all....so worth it!   Best of all, there's still time for you to sign up!

Okay, so now I think you are all caught up.  Time for me to get out some linens and start sewing today.  Much to do.  In my head I hear the little voice of Mr. Hinkle from Frosty the Snowman saying, "busy, busy, busy".  It's getting to be that time of year again!  Have a great day and see you tomorrow...must fill my creative soul.  I hope you do too today!

Wednesday

Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come again, another Day...

Hi friend.  I'm so happy you are here today on this rainy, soggy Wednesday!  Whenever it rains I think of being a child and running around my Grandparents yard jumping in every puddle I could possibly find singing the Rain, Rain song for hours.  I love my sweet memories!

I have lots of housekeeping blogkeeping today.  The days are just going by so quickly these days, I need to do a catchup day.  So here goes!

Thank you to everyone who visits my blog with your sweet comments.  Each comment is so appreciated and inspires me to create more and more.  August's Gratitude Gift goes out to Joyce!
Amuse Shimmer Couture Paper Pack

I used Random.org to generate the winner.  Which was NUMBER 7.

She Art Girl No. 3

I think my She Art Girls are coming out pretty good.  This the first online course I've ever taken and it is AMAZING.  I highly recommend any of Christy's classes.  She has a new She Art II coming up and I'm thinking I may continue on.  We shall see!

Vintage Treasures

I had a great time at the vintage market on Sunday.  As you can see, I found a rather large stash of vintage linens.  I'm hooked on them!  Now I need to get busy creating some bags for my friends that loved my bag.

I've rambled enough for today.  My hope is that I've been able to inspire your creative soul even just a little bit today.  Enjoy!

Sunday

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Hi and thanks for visiting today.  What a week it's been but I won't get into ALL of it just a few things I wanted to share with you today.  First, me and some of my creative girlies took a roadtrip to Absolutely Everything yesterday.  Gosh, how I just love that shop.  Mostly I enjoy the women that work there.  They are all so passionate about papercrafting.  It's just so much fun and such an inspiration boost!

Something else I wanted to share today are my first two Art Girls.  You've probably heard me talking about Christy Tomlinson and how much I just adore her.  Well, I've now watched her videos from the She Art class about a dozen times each.  Last night, I finally jumped in with both feet and made a couple.  The best part about these is when you make them, they tend to take on their very own personalities so you just never know what you're going to get.  You just need to kind of enjoy the journey with them.
She Art Girl No. 1

She Art Girl No. 2
Well, I've rambled enough for one day.  I'll be back tomorrow with my September Blog Candy and to share my vintage market finds and maybe another She Art Girl.  Let your Creative Soul enjoy the journey!

Monday

Sweets

Hope you all had a great weekend!  I sure did.  I enjoyed time with my family and friends and went to an AMAZING yard sale where I got tons of ephemera.  I can't wait to dig into it with my She Art class tomorrow.  Today, I've got some really sweet little bags to share with you.

Aren't they just the cutest?  The wind was blowing so the pictures are a bit fuzzy and I had to be quick before the gusts of wind tipped them over.  I'm thinking I may put some chocolates in them and give them to my Mom, Nana, Cousin and my Best Friend.  You know, the just "cuz" gifts that we all love when they show up on our doorstep without a note?  I just love giving out surprises.  :)
Hopefully these little bags inspired your creative soul today!

Friday

Happy Friday!

Okay, so some really fun things have been going on in my life over the last couple days.  I have connected with some new friends over at A Lil Scrap of Heaven.  They are all quite amazing women and oh so very creative!  We get together enjoy each other's company and show off all our creations.  It is sooooo much fun!

Oh and don't you wish your work desk looked like this right now?  I'm a very lucky girl!

Did you know yesterday was Pandemonium Day?  So I received an amazing gift!  Matt bought me an art class with one of my favorite artist!  I have been following and admiring Christy Tomlinson for quite some time.  Even when I wasn't into my passion of paper, I still followed her a bit.  Since opening my paper, ribbons and buttons again, I am completely and totally in awe of this woman.  She has a few classes that she offers on line and I'm taking one!  I am so excited and can't wait to be inspired even moreso.  I'm really not sure it's possible but I'm thinking it's gonna happen.  Here are a couple art journal pages I worked on today which were completely copies for Christy's tutorials but with my own unique twists.

Hope I was able to inspire your creative soul a bit today.  If I didn't, I'm pretty sure Christy will!  Her studio is one of the most amazing I've seen so you should really check it out.
She did a great video for us  :)
