Take Flight

WOW!  I think I've lost my mind.  I have been super busy with some new courses that I started this week.  Not sure how far behind I am but I'm hoping to get a little caught up over the next couple days.  Today I had some time in the studio and played.  Got paint, ink and Mod Podge on my fingers. 

 

 

This was inspired by a combination of ideas and thoughts.  I'm taking Kelly Rae Roberts course Taking Flight so naturally, I need some wings.  The little girl you see there is me when I was about 3 years old.  This is to remind me of the little girl I once was filled with wild abandon.  I found new adventures around every corner.  I climbed trees and swung in tire swings upside down, baked mud pies in the August sunshine and daydreamed a million dreams.  While I'm not sure my old body would do those things today, I do want to be brave, confident, creative and fearless.  So with a hopeful heart I am learning to practice bravery and courage.

Practice Makes Perfect

Hey there and thanks for visiting! 

Have you ever heard of Picasa?  Well, my gosh!  For the longest time, I have been using it for very simple touch ups for my photos but now......LOOK WHAT IT DOES!!!!  I see people adding photo collages all the time to their blogs but I never knew how...today, I taught myself!  Too bad I didn't know how to use it very well.  But at least I was able to make a collage for a few practice sketches I did this week. 

I know this silly little collage doesn't look like much, but it's really awesome for me to have been able to figure out how to create it all by my lil 'old self! 

Anyway, I'm still practicing my face sketches with the ladies taking Creatively Made e-course.  This is our last week for new material but we have the course videos until the end of March and there is a Facebook Group that is filled with amazingly talented women.  I am such a lucky girl to have taken this course.  It was just what I was looking for!

Hey there!  I am so happy you are here visiting seeing my latest creation.

So                      without further ado.

This is a sweet little 4x4 canvas.  The background is using vintage paper ephemera that I've been collecting for quite some time.  Happily, I'm able to finally cut some up and actually use it!  This is just ONE of the projects we have done with Jeanne Oliver in her Creatively Made class.  This class isn't just about art.  It's about rediscovering your gifts, perspective, accepting our gifts, growing our gifts and friendships.  It's simply beautiful!

Happy Hearts

Hello to you and Happy Friday!  I've got a few things today to share. 

First is a sweet little heart I made for a friend......shhhhh.....she doesn't know and won't know who it's from.  I'm just going to send it to her to make her smile and bring her a little happiness. 

These watercolor hearts were inspired by Alisa Burke.  These were part of the 12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas class I recently took.  LOVED that class.  Wait till you see what I create this weekend with book pages!   

Completely spur of the moment coloring on a random piece of canvas today.  She's kind of cute.  I've been cutting words out of a book and now I'm finally putting them to use.  Sure it's easy enough to type something up to use but when you have to come up with your very own quotes....that's magical!



This canvas heart was inspired by Christy Tomlinson while I took her SheArt2 class.  Christy is simply amazing and so down to earth and talented.   This project was a bit of a challenge for me but I pushed through and I kind of like the end result.

A gift...

Hi and happy Monday to you!  I'm so happy you stopped in to say hello.  

I do enjoy creating gifts for others but this was a tough one for me because I so wanted to added bunches of butterflies and hearts all over it but I held back because I knew the recipient is a bit more simple and wouldn't appreciate my "frilly" addictions.  Here's what I mean:

 

The quote says "No words are necessary between to loving hearts".  Isn't that so true?  I simply decoupaged the ugly frame with old book paper using Claudia Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium in matte, took out the glass and put it all together. 

I also added a Pinterest button to my sidebar for you to oogle at all the things that make me so happy these days.  I try my best to add a few pins daily.  Some may even inspire your creative soul like they do mine.  Hope you enjoy this bright sunny day!

Happy Wednesday!

Gosh, I can't believe June is almost over.  I'm starting on a great summer project for all those summer vacation pictures.  Blues, greens, golds and silvers...it's going to be beautiful!

But for now, I'm going to share a canvas collage I did a few weeks ago.  I used a simple technique of making what looks like a quilted background, just using papers I cut up into "inches" from October Afternoon.  I inked the edges, used a matte medium and then added some little do-dads here and there. 

I love the little Happy Potion bottle the most out of the entire project. For the miniature bottle I just dropped  a little bit of alcohol ink inside, did a little swirling thing and let it dry.  I loved the look!
